Restructuring an apartment
PARIS 01
Perched in the heart of the very desirable neighborhood, Saint Honoré, two steps from the place Vendome, this apartment has a beautiful south-west exposition and a series of windows looking over the courtyard. On the other hand, the succession of rooms served by a single, long corridor without windows, created the impression of a dark enfilade.
The occupant’s new lifestyle – a couple that houses their grandchildren from time to time – permitted a complete redefinition of the apartment. The couple wanted a loft style conception, that allowed them to profit from generous open spaces. The entire apartment was redesigned around a central element. A thick fitting that is not only a storage unit, but also an integrated living space. Created of a material that contrasts the rest of the apartment, this structure is pivotal to the entire project.
The kitchen, partially integrated into the bespoke structure, articulates and extends itself into the heart of the apartment’s circulation.
The master suite, was displaced into the thick fitting to create an intimate nest in the center of the apartment.
At the far end of the apartment, facing the service entrance, a second room was created with a small bathroom. The creation of an isolated space with an independent bathroom and entrance lets an adolescent, in search of freedom, have total privacy during their stay
