Restructuring an apartment
PARIS 01
Situated on the rue du Marche Saint Honoré in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, this apartment from the 1900’s had a great potential for renovation: triple orientation, openings on the street and courtyard, and original oak hardwood flooring. On the other hand, the layout of the rooms in this family residence no longer corresponded to the needs of the occupants: a couple with two students.
The apartment was reorganized so that each person had an individual, private space. The parents have a proper master suite with a walk-in closet. Each daughter has a private bathroom and a large room in which was installed custom furniture integrating desks, closet, and seating.
Each bedroom was placed in a different extremity of the apartment so that they are well isolated from the others. The communal spaces, living room, dining room, and kitchen are at the center of the apartment. The opening of the load bearing walls allows for an unobstructed view and a maximum amount of natural light.
